Messier 48
Messier 48 (also known as NGC 2548) is a +5.8 mag bright open star cluster visible to the naked eye under good atmospheric conditions. The angular extent of the object, which can be found in the constellation of the Hydra, is 54'. The age of the star cluster is estimated at 300 million years.
