North America & Pelican nebula
The North America nebula and its surrounding nebulae are located in the constellation Cygnus. It basically is one giant emission nebula with many smaller dark nebulae dividing it. The North America nebula with the catalogue designation NGC 7000 and the Pelican nebula with the catalogue designation IC 5070 are two of the most popular nebulae for astrophotographers. These nebulae can be seen from the northern hemisphere in summer and early fall high in the sky close to the zenith. The nebulae are both about 2'950 light years away from the solar system.
