IC 348 is a young star cluster about 1,000 light-years away in the constellation Perseus. Around 2–3 million years old, it lies within the Perseus molecular cloud and hosts several hundred young stars, including many T Tauri stars still in early stages of development.
This region is rich in dust and gas, making it an active site for star and planet formation. Many stars have protoplanetary disks, offering valuable insights into how planetary systems form. IC 348 is mostly studied in infrared due to dust obscuring visible light and is a key target for understanding early stellar evolution.
