NGC 4395 is a galaxy located in the constellation Canes Venatici. It can be seen from the northern hemisphere during spring in the so-called galaxy season. The galaxy is about 14 million light years away from our solar system.
NGC 4395 is considered a dwarf galaxy and is classified as a type I Seyfert galaxy.
Seyfert galaxies make up about 10% of all galaxies and are among the most intensively studied objects in astronomy. These galaxies are among the most active due to their large supermassive black holes at the centre (also called nuclei). However, NGC 4395 is a very strange Seyfert galaxy as it has no bulge in the centre and is classified as a dwarf galaxy.
