The Butterfly Nebula can be found in the constellation Cygnus and is an emission nebula. The nebula has the catalogue designation IC 1318 and can be seen from the northern hemisphere during Summer. The nebula is about 4'900 light years away from the solar system. This nebula is also known as Gamma Cygni Nebula.
The bright star in the picture is called Sadr.
