The galaxy NGC 5371 is a symmetric face-on SAB(rs)bc barred galaxy. It lies about 40 Mpc (megaparsec), or 131 million light-years from us. It has a diameter of 115'000 light-years.
Two supernovae have been observed in NGC 5371 so far, SN 1994Y and SN 2020bio.

The galaxies NGC 5350, NGC 5355, NGC 5354, NGC 5353 and NGC 5358 form the galaxy group "Hickson Galaxy Group 86". Together with NGC 5371 this group of galaxies forms another group called "Big Lick Galaxy Group".
